About David E. Rivera
A logistician with a passion towards Process Improvement & Operational Excellence. I have spent 25 years operating and managing projects at tactical and strategic levels; as an Officer in the United States Army, Operations Manager with McKesson, Warehouse Manager with Medline Industries, Assistant Distribution Manager with Alcon and an Operations Supervisor with Sephora. My professional experience has driven me to be a solution-oriented, self-directed leader that understands and recognizes my leadership skills and how they positively affect strategy and goal accomplishment. I can immediately recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the organizations that I lead, and can motivate team members to improve in many facets of the operation or task at hand. My success, while in the military and private sector, has been achieved through a servant leadership style, relentless pursuit of improving business and operational processes, and keen situational awareness. I also believe in the power of employee engagement and the establishment of a positive, productive work environment. Managing change and increasing organizational performance are what drives me. This is accomplished through data collection, analyzing data and the utilization of process improvement methodologies and principles. My passion enables me to quickly identify root cause issues and champion projects that rectify or eliminate these issues. My initial exposure to continuous process improvement methodologies came as a result of learning and executing the U.S. Army’s After Action Review or AAR Cycle. McKesson taught me the competitive advantage associated to utilizing Six Sigma to increase performance, understanding key process flow diagrams, and the importance of eliminating waste and process standardization. Medline, has further equipped my process improvement tool box by allowing me to learn, take part in, implement, and manage 5S, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping projects.
