David Rivera has deep roots in and around Cristo Rey High School’s Southeast San Diego neighborhoods as a former resident and in leading and coaching many youth and faith-based related groups. In addition to founding Nativity Prep Academy and several charter schools, David was active in Cristo Rey High School’s feasibility stage long before its 2020 opening. As a board member, he has chaired committees and executive searches for the school. As President, David’s priority is utilizing a systems-thinking approach to enhance the school’s infrastructure, increase outcomes, and grow enrollment to 500 students. David also has decades of experience in real estate sales and development, including several projects for churches and schools. He is a graduate of the University of San Diego and the University of Notre Dame Law School. David has been recognized with a Leadership Award from ABC Channel 10 and as a ChangeMaker by CBS Channel 8. USD has awarded David the University Service Award and the Bishop Buddy Award for community service and honored him as its 2014 Commencement Speaker.
