About David Saunders
I\'m a game developer and in my view that means something very specific and maybe a little outside of the box. To me, the term \"development\"means having a solid foundation on which to build ideas. Development means taking ideas that sound good in my head and proving them with simple prototypes. It means taking ideas that DON\'T prove out and iterating on them until they do (or are cut.) It means taking an idea about how to bring product value to my customer and proving it through validated learning. When I say I\'m a \"Game Developer\" it means that I work to develop killer games, even if that means admitting something isn\'t working or throwing out what sounded like a great idea. Whether that\'s through coding up features for designers or artists, building a culture of collaboration and innovation, or contributing to design discussions, development to me is a set of core principals on which to build really awesome products. Some of those core principals for me include- Transparency: If something isn\'t working I want to do what I can to fix it. Whether it\'s in the code, in the culture, in the design, etc. If my team isn\'t comfortable talking about what isn\'t going right, how will we ever be able to talk about how to fix it- Learning and Growth: If my team focuses energy on developing a culture of learning and growth, we can tackle an ever evolving set of problems and stay relevant in the modern marketplace- Compassion and Humility: Having the ability to admit a mistake is a powerful thing, having the ability to help others overcome their mistakes is priceless. These core principals are very important to me. If they\'re important to you or your organization, let\'s have a chat :)
