I am currently Delivery Business Lead/ Product Owner for Real Time Rail (RTR), one of the pillars in the Payments Modernization Program, aiming to drive innovation in Canada through modernized infrastructure and data rich payments. The system will provide ubiquitous payment and data receipt, as well as immediate fund availability 24/7/365. I led Residual Paper stream in the enterprise-wide initiative to complete the integration of the HSBC acquisition and deliver on complex large scale technology platform transitions. The Payments workstream focused on the migration of payment instruments and services from HSBC to RBC for the acquisition of HSBC Canada, the largest domestic banking takeover on record. It involved moving billion of dollars of customer funds and data off HSBC’s platform onto RBC in a single weekend – an unusual technological feat that helped RBC complete about $13.5 billion auction of the highly coveted HSBC Canada business. Working through complex and ambiguous systems and processes, the goal was to successfully migrate all payment instruments into RBC to enable as seamless client experience during transition to RBC.
