Support the group strategy and provide financial and accounting leadership to the Horse racing track generating over $40M revenues annually. Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures and internal controls. Responsible for the month end close for 5 companies along with cross functional partners and tracking/analyzing actual results, and identifying risks and opportunities to the business. Oversee payment and collection of custodial gambling monies encompassing 100 out-of-state and several in-state locations and bi-weekly payroll for 100+ staff.Projects & Accomplishments: • Increased net cash flow by $250K monthly with the establishment of ACH payment system, replacing manual check process.• Slashed labor distribution time investment from 2 days to 2 hours by working collaboratively with payroll services to fine-tune process.• Reduced annual audit costs by 25% by facilitating transition to new auditing firm services.• Secured $45K savings and improved data accuracy in regards to payroll by spearheading installation of electronic time clocks. Also trained department managers on utilizing new time tracking system.• Played an instrumental role in generating profits from internet horse racing platform with the introduction of financial reports / GL.• Maintained monthly bank service charges at 0 through close monitoring of 15 bank accounts.• Successfully converted the Financial, Purchasing and Sales modules from Solomon to Great Plains during a fiscal year without running parallel. Also, changed to a new G/L account numbering system in the conversion.• Changed the fixed asset accounting to the Great Plains module and investigated and corrected the differences that occurred in the process.
