About David McLennan
I am a college professor who believes in influencing the political process through teaching, research, and communication.I teach courses in communication and political science with a very practical orientation, including persuasive writing and campaign management. My belief is that students learn best by doing and that my passion for being involved in the political process helps students discover their passion for public service.My research is also very practical. My main research interests are the barriers that women face in getting elected to political office and the communication strategies political leaders use when they get into trouble. I conduct scholarly and practical research in these areas and use my findings to teach college students and aspiring public servants about becoming ethical leaders.I also talk and write about politics regularly. I am an analyst for local, state, and national media outlets. I explain what is going on in a clear, nonpartisan style, grounding my comments in scholarly research. I also blog on current political events so that readers may understand more about the complicated political world.
