ABOUT DAVID MCDONALD M.

I am an education leader, social entrepreneur, and equity advocate committed to transforming schools so that every student, particularly those in historically underserved communities, has access to excellence. With more than a decade of experience, I design and implement school-wide systems that elevate student achievement, strengthen culture, and ensure adults are accountable for results. As a Director of School Programs and the Founder of Education PowerED, I have led cross-functional teams across academics, culture, and student support to execute district-wide initiatives. My work includes redesigning attendance and discipline systems, launching data-driven support programs that expand access for underrepresented students, and coaching leaders to deliver measurable gains in graduation rates, engagement, and instructional quality.Grounded in my lived experience as a Black educator and community advocate, my leadership centers identity, belonging, and culturally responsive practice. I have trained more than educators, secured funding to advance inclusion initiatives, and partnered with organizations such as the NAACP, National Urban League, and Black Chamber of Commerce to drive systemic change.Beyond school leadership, I am a co-author of Culture to the Max: Culturally Responsive Teaching and Practice and an aspiring scholar pursuing doctoral studies focused on identity-centered leadership in Black-led and Black-serving turnaround schools. Whether leading systems, coaching educators, or shaping national conversations on equity, I am driven by a singular mission: to ensure that Black and historically marginalized students are not only served, but empowered to thrive.
