San Francisco Pretrial Diversion Project
Aug 2018 — Present · San Francisco, CA, US
San Francisco Pretrial has been leading bail and criminal justice reform for 49 years, and my role is to continue that innovation by building strategic partnerships at the local, state and national levels with a focus on supporting our exemplary staff. We inform and support pretrial reform and implementation through our hands-on expertise and industry-leading outcomes. As a community-based non-profit organization embedded in the Courts and criminal justice system, our independence puts us in a unique position to support data-driven efficiency, transparency and accountability across the pretrial and release process. In my over six years as CEO, we have established ourselves as a reputable innovator and pioneer in the criminal justice and public safety sectors. Our budget, staffing and capacity have more than tripled since I was hired. I have overseen the development and implementation of clinical, housing and behavioral health services designed to meet the complex needs of our clients, including being one of the first community agencies in the country to create a Medicare revenue stream for justice-involved people through Cal-AIM. Based on our decades of expertise, we developed and launched our own pretrial data management system - OpenJustice - in partnership with AJWi which is being marketed to other jurisdictions. OpenJustice facilitates transparency and accountability in the pretrial phase and creates a roadmap for implementation based on our local success. Our programs include-Own Recognizance (O.R.)-Housing - SF Justice-Involved Access Point-Onsite Clinicians-Cal-AIM Care Management-Assertive Case Management-Court Team Liaisons-In-Custody Referral-Neighborhood Courts-Pretrial Diversion-Group Facilitation (Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Harm Reduction, Dual Diagnosis, Latino/a Group, Thinking for a Change)-Discharge Planning-Affordable Care Act Registration-Veteran\'s Court & Parole Reentry Court Support
