About David Lee

I build process systems for advanced HDD manufacturing at Western Digital. My work supports HAMR, SMR, and PMR technologies, the storage architectures behind AI data centers, machine learning platforms, and autonomous systems at scale.Day to day, that means cleanroom operations, ISO compliance, contamination control at the nanometer level, automated sensor networks for environmental monitoring, and SOPs that turn complex R&D into repeatable manufacturing systems. I sit at the intersection of engineering, quality, and operations, and I connect technical execution to strategic thinking.My approach across every domain is the same: find the root cause, redesign the system, automate the solution.I hold an M.A. in Leadership and apply systems thinking beyond manufacturing. I\'m currently writing a five-book series on leadership formation that connects pattern recognition, neuroscience, and organizational design. The same precision I bring to process architecture at Western Digital, I bring to building frameworks for how people lead and grow.

1. Engineer Technician (Supporting Next-gen Hamr Development)

   I support the core engineering team developing HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology in the R&D Media and New Product Line division at Western Digital headquarters. HAMR is next-generation storage technology that enables higher data density for AI infrastructure, cloud computing, and autonomous systems.I work directly with engineers to document and revise MPIs (Manufacturing Process Instructions) and (Manufacturing Methods and Materials) for new and existing processes. I witness cleanroom disk builds to verify accuracy, protocol adherence, and traceability. I conduct 5S audits across the facility and address findings through direct action or coordinating with service teams.I manage all aspects of technical documentation: formatting, figure labeling, table of contents linking, metadata management, and revision control. I prepare and update PCNs (Process Change Notifications) whenever there are changes in procedures or build specifications. Everything I produce meets ISO, 5S, and HIRAC compliance standards.I\'ve completed DEKRA Exemplar Global ISO EMS 14001:2015, ISO OH 45001:2018, and 19011 Management System and Team Leader Auditor Training in April 2025. This certification deepens my capabilities in internal audit systems and quality management frameworks.
