As a former senior pharmacy executive and leader, I provide consulting services and expertise for hospitals, health systems and integrated delivery networks focused on optimizing the design and operation of medication use processes and systems and improving pharmacy operations and services across the continuum of patient care locations. In addition, I provide legal consultation and expert witness services regarding contemporary pharmacy operations and services in medication related litigation including, but not limited to negligence, malpractice, and personal injury; fraud, waste and abuse; patent infringement and trade secrets; and the opioid epidemic. I have provided these services for legal firm clients including hospitals, health systems, IDNs, retail, mail order and specialty pharmacies, skilled nursing and long term care facilities, pharmacy automation and information system companies, pharmacy benefit managers and commercial healthcare insurers.All of these consulting services are based upon my 35+ years of experience and expertise as a strategic and hands-on senior pharmacy executive in both turnaround and enhancement situations. I have developed and lead local, regional, national and international contemporary pharmacy operations and services at Kaiser Permanente, Cleveland Clinic, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and Tucson Medical Center. Significant achievements include: Development of new innovative pharmacy practice models and clinical services. Design of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy facilities and workflow. Development and implementation of innovative pharmacy automation and information technology systems to support contemporary pharmacy operations and services. Development and retention of top-performing executive teams and workforces with 300 to staff members. Managed capital and operating budgets from $50M to $6B. As a healthcare consultant during the past several years, I have continued to observe, evaluate, design and recommend innovative, leading-edge pharmacy operational processes and systems and patient care services in a variety of diverse hospitals, health systems and integrated delivery networks. All of these efforts focused on improving operational efficiency and effectiveness, enhancing quality and clinical outcomes, reducing medication therapy risks, complying with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements and achieving optimal financial performance results.
