About David W. Kahn

David specializes in the field of architectural acoustics with an emphasis in performance space design. Since 1983, he has assisted architects and organizations in integrating acoustic design to naturally enhance the performance experience. He established Acoustic Distinctions in 1991(previously Acoustic Dimensions) and, as principal consultant, leads design direction in all three broad areas of architectural acoustics consulting: room acoustics design, building noise, and vibration control. David has designed numerous concert halls, recital halls, theatre and dance spaces, and worship facilities. Some of his projects include … Southern Theatre (Columbus, OH), Peabody Conservatory (Baltimore, MD), Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre (Stratford-upon-Avon, England), Woolly Mammoth Theatre (Washington, DC), Haslam Music Center (University of Tennessee, Knoxville), Riverside Church (NY, NY), and Willow Creek Community Church (South Barrington, IL). He brings a musician’s ear to all of the spaces he designs. Currently, he is active in the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble as a trumpet player. In addition, David is on the faculty of Yale University in the graduate school of drama, and a visiting lecturer at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
