ABOUT DAVID RENO

Personal Mission Statement:Help others experience fulfillment through generosity by way of discovery and connection of skills and passions.Seth Godin often talks of generosity and showing up day in and day out to give to the community we seek to serve. To me, generosity is more than donations. It is acknowledgement, thankfulness and service. It’s looking people in the eye, saying thank you and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Trying to see things from their perspective. My most fulfilling moments have come through generosity. Through giving and sacrifice in the service of others and sometimes myself. Raising two kids has required the investment of sleep, time and sometimes sanity, but has taught me patience and humility. Serving as a board member required generosity of time and money, but brought opportunity to others. Training and running a half marathon and hiking the John Muir Trail (this summer!) required gifts of physical pain, planning and fear, but returned confidence. Giving a dollar to someone who needs it without questioning how they got there cost me the equivalent of a few minutes at my desk, but provided some security. Hard strategic planning and risk taking at work requires emotional investment and facing the unknown consequences good or bad, this is also sacrifice, but has returned so much to my community – the people I partner work with and the children of Arizona. These are some of my most fulfilling moments. This is the change I hope to make in the world – helping others experience fulfillment through generosity.
