About David Rainey

Accomplished global professional, with a 40-year career in the natural resource industry. Served on the boards of Stone Energy Corporation and Petroquest Energy Inc. Retired from BHP Billiton in November 2016, after serving as President Petroleum Exploration, and Chief Geoscientist for all of BHP Billiton’s businesses. Before this held positions of increasing responsibility for 31 years at BP, culminating in final roles as Vice President Gulf of Mexico Exploration, and Vice President Science, Technology, Environment and Regulatory Affairs. Worked in, or led teams throughout the world. Experience includes the full upstream petroleum value chain in both conventional and unconventional (“shale”) plays, and all of BHB Billiton’s mined commodities.Active member and Director Certified by The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Demonstrated commitment to diversity and mentoring executives.
