About S. David Hall

I have the privilege to work in a lot roles; as an applied psychologist, teacher, licensed counselor/psychotherapist, non-profit executive, behavioral health entrepreneur, and sometimes just as a general storyteller at-large. My main career goal is to try and help people understand the stories of their own lives and how positive growth can happen. I serve as the Dean of the Negev Institute which is a teaching/resource non-profit with the purpose to equip churches and other faith-focused groups to address social/behavioral health needs in their communities and beyond. I also work in Negev Institute\'s counseling clinic, Haven Counseling Center and serve as a teacher and the education director for a continuing education teaching collaborative and career development resource hub for behavioral health professionals, PsychMaven

   Haven Counseling Center

   Jan 2016 — Present · Knoxville, TN, US

   Founded a collaborative psychiatric practice, originally known as \"Haven Family Psychiatry,\" in Knoxville, TN. Haven began with a focus on medication management, and in 2018 the medical part of the group was acquired by a partnership of psychiatric providers who worked in the group. This new partnership has expanded and now serves the community as Knoxville Family Psychiatry. Haven is now focused on providing counseling/psychotherapy, supervision, career testing, retreats, and courses, to individuals across the lifespan as Haven Counseling Center. I passed on the directorship of the clinic at the start of 2025, along with the ownership of Haven being transferred to Negev Institute. I still maintain a small therapy caseload and provide supervision for graduates pursuing licensure in Tennessee as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) and/or Licensed Professional Counselors/Mental Health Service Providers (LPC/MHSP).
