David’s litigation experience spans several areas of focus, including transportation law, health care, product liability and commercial disputes. He also handles all aspects of general liability and tort defense matters. Regardless of the underlying subject matter, the range of David’s experience covers assisting clients with early case assessment, handling government investigations, devising local and national litigation strategies, serving as a national coordinating discovery counsel and even handling appeals involving novel issues of international first impression. He also has successfully addressed national multidistrict litigation and the defense of class actions. While much of David’s litigation work is in Illinois, he frequently handles matters throughout the country, coordinating the work of local counsel as necessary. As a compliment to his litigation practice, clients have come to rely on David to provide sound advice consistent with their business structures and philosophy. He frequently counsels clients on risk avoidance and mitigation, operational issues, policy development and employment matters. He consults on and assists with the creation of document retention programs and, with an understanding of the challenges clients face in the area of e-discovery, remains at the forefront of the field by deciphering its ambiguities while staying abreast of related case law.David is active in the pro bono legal community and believes that giving back to the community is a core responsibility of being a lawyer. Since 2006, he has worked with the not-for-profit Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) Foundation.
