Bio and photo posted at http://dgans.com/pressroom/ A David Gans \"solo electric\" performance is likely to consist of several elements: country-blues-style fingerpicking; loop-based improvisations created live in the moment; sweetly-sung ballads, original or borrowed; Grateful Dead songs reinterpreted to suit his voice and guitar; wry observations of the music-festival subculture and the larger world; soulful and passionate political commentary; favorites from the folk-rock canon of the last 50 years. Mix and match - it\'s never the same show twice, but it\'s always worth a listen. I took a 20-year detour from my own music to gain a priceless education as a journalist and radio producer. Now I\'m concentrating on my own creative endeavors, but I haven\'t quit my day job - producing and hosting the Grateful Dead Hour, which this days features other fine music from the border between the \"Americana\" and \"jam band\" genres. Along the way I have published five books, produced several compilations and boxed sets of Grateful Dead music, co-produced \"Might As Well: The Persuasions Sing Grateful Dead\"(one of my proudest moments as a creative person), and wrote hundreds of articles for publications including Record, Mix, Recording Engineer/producer, Rolling Stone, Wired, the Millennial Whole Earth Catalog, and many others.
