ABOUT DAVID MARES

With over 14 years of experience in the retail industry, I am a passionate and driven leader who specializes in talent development, retail operations, and merchandising strategies. I currently work as a Regional Talent Resource Manager at rue21, a leading fast fashion retailer that offers trendy and affordable clothing for young people. I am on a mission to rebuild entire districts through talent recruitment and development, coach merchandising strategies, create strategic operational plans and perform loss prevention audits/investigations. In my current role, I have piloted the ownership of the talent acquisition, networking, onboarding and training processes and procedures of 13+ districts/200 stores across the Midwest and West Coast region. I collaborate with support center business partners to capitalize on opportunities, elevate positive trends and introduce new and innovative tools and initiatives to better support store leaders across the organization. I have also demonstrated a record of multi-unit management success in bringing five different store locations to profitability and financial success by coaching and developing store managers in elevating the in-store experience and operational excellence, while running my own high volume location. Some of the skills that I have leveraged and enhanced in my role include retail operations, talent development, and merchandising.
