Started working at Starling Bank as Senior Software Engineer and after 4 months took the lead of the Account Management team.My time at Starling is mostly split between personal contribution and team leading/managerial activities. I have responsibilities on both technical and personal level:I helped drive the technical direction of the team by prioritising tasks, keeping visibility over priorities, and helping make important high level design decisions.On a personal level I helped with the team growth by working with each individual to find out their areas of strength and their weaknesses, coming up with some regular actions to improve or leverage their skills. I believe It’s very important to cultivate a good relationship with the team I work with, for that reason I always make sure to keep a good communication, discuss things that are going well or not so well and that celebrate our achievements.As part of the broader Android team I worked on automating most of our release process using internal tools, this allowed us to dedicate more time on things that matters, rather than spending it taking care of our weekly release.I restructured part of the Android hiring process at Starling Bank by personally introducing new systems and procedures to involve more engineers at different levels and ensure we have a way to bring consistency throughout the whole process. By working with internal recruiters I made sure they knew what we were looking for and were able to perform efficient screening of the candidates.In addition to the above I also planned, designed and built a navigation framework that allows us to build user flows faster and increase screen reusability. It’s currently used in more than 60 user flows across the app.
