Overall responsibility for ramp up and delivery of the AICC, a new multi-million-pound centre led by Ulster University, in partnership with Queen\'s University Belfast, that will foster greater AI adoption in business, grow the AI talent pipeline and generate high-value jobs in Northern Ireland. Launched following a £16.3 million investment by Invest Northern Ireland and the Department for the Economy in 2024, the AICC will have a dedicated staff of 25 spanning applied AI, data science, policy, ethics, business development, training and professional services. It was specifically called out in the NI Programme for Government and the UK\'s new Modern Industrial Strategy (2025) due to its significance as an intervention aimed at boosting the region\'s prosperity and productivity. Key achievements since my appointment: built the team to nineteen across 3 sites, commenced programme delivery across all five key actions including our Transformer programme, AI Acceleration Tour, AI Castle Conversations and more. A new industry led Board has been appointed and Chair elected, the new AICC brand project commissioned and launched and 140+ scholarship students matriculated in 24/25 with a further 120 offers out for 25/26 the intake. Pipeline of R&D projects currently worth c. £19m developed with some wins (TBA).
