   It is my goal to delight to residents and their families. Here are some of the things we’ve done:Designed and built 20 benches with planters with local business support. Benches were donated to participate in beautification of the central city of Garland for Earth Day, 2021.During Covid, we planned activities to keep our residents engaged and hopeful. These included: • A car parade featuring family members and city officials with balloons, signs and noise makers. • A Pandemic Cookbook of favorite recipes submitted by residents; the cover was created by one of our resident artisans. • One resident created for us 7 Lego buildings (including Saturn V, Statue of Liberty and the Coliseum) using 23,424 pieces. • Provided large-scale (48X63”) adult coloring sheets for residents to use. One resident was so inspired that he colored 22 sheets as what he called “his therapy.” For Father’s Day, I made a book of his work for each of his five children. Inaugurated joint trips across multiple Brookdale facilities to Texas Ranger and Mavericks games and to Medieval Times (period eating and performance by wait staff).Created and shared collateral backdrops and props for events such as Mother’s Day Teas, Father’s Day Barbeques, Luaus, Murder Mysteries, etc. with other Brookdale facilities.Invited neighbors and Brookdale communities to participate in events including: summer concert series, Back the Blue event (support for first responders), Western Day (650 attendees in 2015) and annual craft sales.Designed playful and colorful Dr. Seuss benches that were crafted over a period of 18 months by residents. Gifted 60+ benches: each elementary school in the Garland School District received one in 2018. In the spring of 2018 the residents wanted to take a road trip. We visited sites such as Graceland and Grand Ole Opry en route to the Brookdale Headquarters where we met our CEO and presented a Dr. Seuss bench that is currently on display in their lobby.
