About David Berning

I’m a Senior Front-End Engineer based in Cincinnati, OH who enjoys building clean, scalable, and user-friendly applications. At Walker & Dunlop, I turn complex product designs into fast, interactive tools that support real business workflows. I focus on modern front-end development (Vue 3, component-driven architecture, micro front-ends) and care a lot about performance, maintainability, and developer experience. I also lead our Front-End Council which is an internal group that helps guide how we build and scale front-end applications across teams. I work closely with cross-department leadership and other engineers to define standards, align on architecture, and roll out improvements across the organization. A big part of my role is mentoring, code reviews, and helping teams move faster with shared patterns and tooling. Outside of industry work, I’m an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati: Blue Ash College, where I teach web design and development. I enjoy helping students connect what they learn in the classroom to how things actually work in production.
