ABOUT DAVID APPLEYARD
I\'ve founded and sold multiple businesses including Design Shack and Creative VIP, as well as other companies in the WordPress and Tumblr theme space. I\'m currently growing and scaling Reading Chest, on a mission to help parents with the challenge of teaching children to read. I previously worked for Envato, leading their international content marketing team for 16+ years, teaching millions of people through the Tuts+ educational platform and helping them to grow in their careers. This journey took me from a startup of 20 people, through to Envato\'s acquisition by Shutterstock in 2024. I have expertise in leadership, strategy, product management, marketing, content strategy, managing remote teams, editorial workflow, and front-end design / development. I graduated from the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Management, and a Masters of Enterprise (MEnt).
