ABOUT DAVID HILL
I have 20+ years of experience in the electronics industry. I have worked in the defense, telecom, and datacom fields, and have been involved with everything from board and FPGA design to system design. I have also worked on both the OEM design side and the sales support side of the desk.I spent the last 5 years working on creating new products at DLP Design. This is the most dynamic, challenging, exciting, and sometimes frustrating work I have ever done. Worked on everything from pitching ideas, creating modules, developing custom projects using Xilinx, Actel (now Microsemi), and Cypress programmable solutions; embedded processor solutions from TI, Microchip, and Renesas; and RF products including Near Field RFID and RF data radios. Developed marketing newsletter campaigns and supported social media for the corporation. I recently joined back up with the Avnet family supporting my old friend Xilinx. Its a different kind of fun but fun all the same. On to the world of Zynq, Vivado, the 7 series, UltraScale, and now the UltraScale+ family. Amazing the things they can do with an FPGA these days. Its now an SoC with options like ARM cores, Analog blocks, and Multi-Gigabit transceivers. These new FPGAs can encompass what used to take an entire PCB or multiple PCBs to accomplish. 28 nm, 20nm geometry parts in full production, 16nm parts available, and 7nm is well underway. What ever happened to Moore\'s law?
