   Lead and direct the activities of UCLA’s Advanced Research Computing organization. Direct through unit managers the strategic development and delivery of comprehensive research computing services and solutions that support and empower data-intensive research across a broad set of academic disciplines and initiatives at UCLA. Formulate and administer high-level plans, strategies, programs, and standards related to UCLA’s advanced research computing environment in support of data science, AI, and complex data-driven research workflows. Participate and/or form advanced research computing related committees, boards, communities of practice, and/or councils, short-term or long-term, campus or external, that enhance the planning, advocacy, collaboration, decision-making, and implementation of key research technology initiatives and programs that support research data management, research computing, data science, ethical AI and other emerging fields. Actively engage and collaborate with faculty researchers, PIs, deans, and academic leaders for the purpose of understanding ongoing research computing needs and evolving requirements. Steward the overall research computing infrastructure through unit leads, ensuring alignment to applicable and current data management, security, privacy, accessibility, and AI procedures and policies, and achievement of best-in-class practices for research application and system architecture development, delivery, expansion, maintenance, and sustainability. Lead, retain, and enhance an effective organization and support a culture of innovation, inclusive excellence, creativity, and continuous learning. Oversee allocation of financial resources at the highest level to ensure ethical and sustainable financial practices. Establish organizational metrics and reporting mechanisms to keep key stakeholders informed of relevant OARC initiatives, offerings, and progress.
