ABOUT DAVID WOODING
DAVID is Editor of the Sunday Express, a position he has held since 2022. A dynamic and highly-experienced journalist, he has worked at every level in the news media, serving distinguished stretches on eight national titles. He sits on the editor\'s committee of IPSO, the Independent Press Standards Organisation. Before taking the editor\'s chair, David was employed in senior executive roles in a career which spanned everything from news and features to investigative journalism and politics. After a long spell as a globe-trotting news reporter, he was promoted to News Editor before switching to politics where he spent 25 years on the Westminster beat and became a well-known figure in the corridors of power. During that time he conducted agenda-setting interviews with five Prime Ministers and was regularly called upon to give instant analysis on live TV and radio broadcasts. His excellent leadership and motivational skills in writing leaders, running newsrooms and political teams led to him being head-hunted for the top job at the Sunday Express. Previous senior posts include, leader writer, Assistant Editor of The Sun, Associate Editor of the News of the World, and News Editor of the People. In 2013, David was honoured by his home city when he was elected President of Liverpool Press Club. Immediately before that, he was Associate Editor (Politics) of the News of the World, where he led a team which brought in agenda-setting scoops. During the phone \"hacking\" scandal, David became the voice of innocent staff who lost their jobs, making a wave of TV and radio appearances which earned him the Communicator of the Month award and the accolade of being named a \"Hero of Journalism\" during a traumatic year for the profession. His incisive insight, down-to-earth manner and ability to discuss everything from heavy politics to light and frothy have made him a regular contributor on BBC Radio 5 Live, Newsnight, Sky News, Good Morning Britain, LBC, TalkRadio, This Morning, BBC Breakfast and GB News.
