ABOUT DAVID WATSON
I am a senior associate-level international trade consultant with approximately ten years of legal experience. I am also completing my PhD in international intellectual property and trade law at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia (expected graduation May 2026).Since 2017, I have advised the United Kingdom Government on international trade matters, with particular expertise in agricultural trade regulation and free trade agreement negotiations.My doctoral research, featured in leading journals, examines the different approaches taken to the protection of geographical indications in trade agreements. My work is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Doctoral Fellowship and the UBC Four Year Doctoral Fellowship.Please feel free to connect to discuss international trade or intellectual property law, including geographical indication protection.
