ABOUT DAVID WATSON

With 15 years of experience in residential childcare, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of providing high-quality care for young people, including those with learning disabilities and autism. Over the course of my career, I have consistently demonstrated a proven track record of managing and leading children’s homes to achieve Good and Outstanding ratings, always ensuring the delivery of exceptional, person-centred care and support.In 2024, I was honored to be a finalist in the Senior Manager category at the CYP (Children and Young People) Awards, recognizing my commitment to operational excellence and the positive impact I\'ve had on the lives of the young people in my care. More recently, in 2025, I was proud to be a finalist in the Visionary Leader category at the LD Star Awards, further affirming my dedication to advancing the sector and fostering environments where young people thrive.Currently overseeing 7 services across the North East & Humber, I am a Responsible Individual with a 100% record of Good or Outstanding inspection ratings throughout the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 cycles. This reflects my ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and service delivery.Holding a Level 7 qualification in Strategic Leadership and Management and a degree in Therapeutic Child Care, I bring a strong focus on team development, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a culture of accountability. I am passionate about creating environments where children and young people, regardless of their needs, feel safe, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential.Collaboration with staff, families, and professionals is key to my approach in enhancing services. Moving forward, I remain dedicated to driving positive change, promoting best practices, and elevating the standard of care across the residential childcare sector.
