ABOUT DAVID THEMENS

My interests are in space physics and remote sensing. My work involves developing synergistic techniques for profiling the ionosphere using a variety of remote sensing and navigation systems, including ionosondes and GNSS, as well as implementing full-physics and empirical assimilation frameworks to model the Auroral Oval and Polar Cap ionosphere in support of Over-The-Horizon-Radar, HF communications, and navigation systems. My work also involves using ionospheric remote sensing systems to study how the near-Earth plasma environment couples with events in and the climate of the lower atmosphere.I have also worked with tropospheric remote sensing, focusing on the development of ground-based, passive remote sensing instruments for 3D profiling of tropospheric water vapour and temperature.
