About David Tafuri
David Michael Tafuri is an international lawyer, writer, and foreign policy contributor. He is currently an equity partner at the international law firm, Arent Fox. He runs the emerging democracies practice, which is focused on legal work in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Latin America. As part of his work, he frequently travels to conflict and post-conflict countries to advise on public international law, policy and political issues, economic development and investment. He is also the President of the US-Kurdistan Business Council. He is a former Board Member of USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Organization, and continues to provide support in refugee crises around the world. Mr. Tafuri began his career working for UNHCR in Turkey. He later worked for two Presidential campaigns in the U.S. He also worked for the U.S. Department of State in the US Embassy in Baghdad from 20••••07. He has lived in Iraq, Turkey, Spain, and Greece. He currently resides in Washington, DC. He has published articles in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Politico, CNN.com, The Hill and BusinessWeek. He also frequently appears on CNN, Fox News, BBC, CNBC, MSNBC, Al Jazeera and Voice of America to provide commentary on foreign policy issues. He currently appears in an HBO Vice documentary about Libya that first aired on HBO in June, 2016.
