About David Swirsky
I\'m currently working as a grant writer/fundraiser for Summit Metro Parks. My background is in community development/building and event planning. I\'m passionate about issues such as affordable housing, public spaces, and transportation. One day, I\'d like to combine all of my passions, skills, and experiences into a dream job. Below is two of my previous bios that I wrote four and seven years ago. I like to keep them up to remind me of my community building roots and reflect on the many experiences so far in my life. 2017: With a love of service, faith in human ingenuity and never-ending curiosity, David finds himself continuously stepping into roles that have community building at the heart of the mission. In his final two years of undergrad at the University of Akron, he founded the Akron chapter as a co-captain, the Big Love Network as a co-organizer, was selected by 880 Cities to participate in the Emerging City Champions Studio, and worked with Hunter Franks on 500 Plates. Shortly following his graduation in December 2015, David started a full time position at Rebuilding Together Northeast Ohio, a non-profit that provides home repairs to low-income homeowners, as an AmeriCorps Community Partner Coordinator. He\'s currently pursuing a Master\'s degree in Urban Planning & Development while interning at Midtown Cleveland. 2014: I love seeing new connections made. When two creative people meet for the first time and the ideas start to flow is where I find my most meaningful service. I feel called to plan events where creativity is not only displayed but encouraged and nurtured. Creativity not only in the arts but in science, technology and building community. I am already involved with several groups that think big, broad, and integrally. That is, groups whose vision integrates multiple perspectives in order to address the core problems facing our civilization globally and our communities locally. Whether it\'s within community groups, student organizations, government agencies, non-profits or the business world, I find my passion in facilitating connections to further beautify, uplift, and sustain our world
