About David Sly
I’m an experienced Occupational Safety and Health Manager in commercial construction. Decades of work in the building trades as both management and labor, have helped me to understand the practical concerns of production and scheduling. Education and Certifications prepared me to apply the body of knowledge involved in Occupational Safety and Health. It can be fun. It can be demanding. When I coach workers into OSH compliance, I explain why the task needs to be thought out, discussed and documented beforehand. I involve the crews in the process. Workplace safety must be made accessible. Meet the trades people where they are and use terminology they can relate to. They think about production, and sometimes need to be reminded of safety concerns. Building and maintaining relationships is a big part of the job. Everyone, from the Project Manager to the Laborer - deserves respect and consideration.
