ABOUT DAVID SISCOVICK

I am an internist-cardiovascular epidemiologist with a broad research and training portfolio whose efforts are now focused on population health improvement. I have been an active investigator in multiple NHLBI-funded cohort studies, including the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS), the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adult Study, and the Women’s Health Initiative, the Cohorts of Heart and Aging Research on Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE), and the principal investigator of multiple grants funded by the NIH. The research has focused on a range of characteristics, including exercise, nutrition, diabetes, obesity, renal disease, mineral metabolism, developmental origins, women\'s health, drug safety, air pollution, and genetics and their associations with a wide-range of cardio-metabolic disease outcomes across the life cycle. I was a member of the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Institute on Aging; and, I currently serve as the Chair the American Heart Association Council on Epidemiology and Prevention. In 2014, I was named a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher and listed among The World\'s Most Influential Scientific Minds, based upon the link between citations and influence and the papers indexed within the Web of Science between 2002 and 2012. Since arriving in NYC in April 2014, I have co-chaired the Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI) funded New York City-Clinical Data Research Network (CDRN) Diabetes Subcommittee. I also serve on the NYC-CDRN Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) Committee. At The New York Academy of Medicine, I promote inter-disciplinary policy-relevant research by investigators in health policy, health services research, behavioral health economics, cognitive science, and community-based participatory research; and, I am developing a cardiovascular (population) health accelerator for vulnerable populations.
