White blood cells are removed from the patient, modified in the laboratory to recognize cancer cells, grown to larger amounts, and returned to the patient to kill cancer cells. CAR T-cell therapy is an intensive treatment that requires specialized expertise and resources to support the patients who receive it. Many of our cancer specialists have exceptionally strong backgrounds in immunology and are well-equipped to support patients who develop the side effects of CAR T-cell therapy.
