About David Shropshire

Mr. Shropshire is helping Idaho National Laboratory explore opportunities for nuclear power in new economic and market environments. He recently returned from the International Atomic Energy Agency and the European Commission Joint Research Centre. At IAEA, he led the Planning and Economic Studies Section. Previous experience at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) spanned over twenty years. He has published 60+ reports and peer reviewed journal articles related to energy-environmental planning, systems engineering and national security. He is a registered Professional Engineer and has been active professionally including the American Nuclear Society, European Nuclear Society, and the European Nuclear Young Generation. Also, he is active in supporting communication outreach on sustainable uses of nuclear power for the IAEA.    Mr. Shropshire joined Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in the Systems Integration Department in the Nuclear Science and Technology Directorate. He is working to create new capabilities for the INL to provide nuclear economic analysis to identify the conditions where nuclear power can contribute to national energy and sustainable development objectives. He is currently pursuing micro-reactor economics and market studies, joint INL/IAEA Nuclear Cost Workshops, evaluating nuclear competitiveness in the U.S, and enhancing nuclear energy communication.
