With the new name of AdvocacyCraft Consulting and a focus on independently assessing nonprofit programs in the policy realm, clients have included the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Ford Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, Democracy Fund, and Aspen Institute. With a typical timeframe of about 4 months, these contracts entailed:• Checking the overall health of a major Washington think tank. • Reviewing, in collaboration with Kathleen Sullivan, the Ford Foundation\'s $118M portfolio of grants aimed at curbing harsh immigration enforcement. • Gauging the performance of two Hewlett Madison Initiative grantees working to improve bipartisan cooperation in Congress. • Taking a fresh look at one of the premier conveners of expert briefings for Members of Congress.• Conducting an “evaluate the evaluators” review of one of the pioneers in the evaluation of advocacy and policy change.• Examining the roles mid-career fellows play in congressional offices on behalf of a fellowship program aimed at spurring Congress to tackle a fuller technology policy agenda.• Revamping the internal monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems of a voting rights group that works to boost college student political participation.
