ABOUT DAVID SHEA
As Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President at Kraken Robotics, I’ve spent the last decade driving innovation at the intersection of underwater robotics, synthetic aperture sonar, and real-world maritime operations. From our earliest prototypes to deploying world-class systems around the globe, I’ve had the privilege of helping grow Kraken from a six-person startup into a global leader in underwater sensing. With a background in electrical engineering and over 17 years of hands-on experience, I’ve led teams through complex product development, international sea trials, and high-stakes discoveries.I am also a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events, and have represented Kraken in media interviews, technical workshops, and webinars. Whether it’s presenting new research, breaking down complex tech for a broader audience, or sharing lessons learned from the field, I enjoy the challenge of telling a compelling story and sparking curiosity about what’s possible underwater.I’m passionate about building technology that works in the real world—and even more passionate about building the teams that make that possible. I believe in fostering a collaborative culture, empowering people to take ownership, and creating an environment where curiosity and creativity thrive. I’m also a strong advocate for rapid prototyping and “fail fast” innovation, especially in applied R&D.If you’re working in (or just curious about) subsea technology, sonar imaging, or bringing tough ideas to life in tough environments—let’s connect.
