About David Shapiro
Extensive prior experience in academic medicine/research (hematology/oncology, tumor biology/genetics) before joining the pharmaceutical industry in 2001. My industry interests have focused on mid- and late-stage hematology/oncology and HIV drug development, first at Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals and more recently at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Leap Therapeutics. At BMS, I had overall responsibility for clinical development programs for dasatinib (Sprycel) in both leukemia and solid tumors and included the successful global filing of Sprycel in first line chronic myelogenous leukemia. Currently I am an independent bio-oncology consultant focusing on the development of strategic opportunities in both hematologic malignancies and solid tumors as well as novel immuno-modulatory approaches. Specialties: hematology, oncology, mid- and late-stage drug development, clinical trial design, molecular biology, pediatrics.
