Senior Athletic Academic Advisor & Alumni Relations Coordinator
Aug 2007 — Present · Madison, WI, US
Senior Academic Advisor and Alumni Relations Coordinator. Currently the athletic academic advisor for the Returning Badger Degree Completion program and approximately 200+ men\'s and women\'s rowers. Advised 60-70 football student-athletes from 20••••19; and 110 soccer, volleyball, and wrestling student-athletes from 20••••16. In this capacity I coordinate and implement all aspects of academically related services for student-athletes. I conduct meetings with student-athletes to discuss relevant academic information (course selection, major exploration, graduation planning), gauge academic success, and provide proven individualized approaches for overall academic improvement. In addition to working directly with academically at-risk student-athletes, I counsel them through challenging academic and personal circumstances using a personalized approach. Additionally, I monitor and track NCAA benchmarks for progress and percentage towards degree to maintain eligibility. My ultimate goal is to impact each student-athlete in a unique, personalized manner that will positively elevate him/her to be a better person, student, friend, teammate.Alumni Relations position is new as of 10/2023 and involves a collaboration with the W Club (Former Badger letter winners). My role is evolving and being developed. Conceived and administered Individual Development Plans for student-athletes. These plans were used to collaborate with student-athletes, colleagues, and coaches to increase student-athlete accountability.Collaborated with recruiting staffs and Academic Services to modify the academic presentation for prospective student-athletes, parents and coaches during on campus visits to showcase our office’s vision, programs, and services. Assisted in the evaluation process for prospective student-athletes and contributed to the admission review process with colleagues and campus admissions decision-makers.
