As a forensic accountant and financial crimes investigator for civil litigation and criminal prosecution, David has served as consulting or testifying expert in hundreds of investigations involving white collar crime, government corruption, complex fraud, financial damages and a variety of other legal disputes. He has provided expert witness testimony in more than two dozen of those matters. Mr. Sawyer has been an adviser in the global initiative to combat, prevent and detect multi-national economic and military espionage, as well as the proliferation of WMD, cyber crime, terrorist financing and money laundering. He served a key role in developing software to detect money laundering, threat finance, fraud, waste, abuse and white collar crime. David is a Board Member Emeritus of the Georgia Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, where he was elected president four times. Currently, he is one of eight members of the Fraud and Forensic Services Advisory Council for the Georgia Society of CPA’s (GSCPA) and was Co-Chairman for the Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS). He is a member of InfraGard and past member of Business Executives for National Security (BENS). For BENS, he was member of the Executive Committee and Vice Chairman of the Special Projects Committee for the Southeastern United States. A graduate of Auburn University, David has addressed thousands of professionals and students on the topic of fraud examination and forensic accounting. He has served as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer in Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting on numerous occasions (and co-established the Fraud Examination Course for the University of Georgia, in 2003). He is a published author and has provided expert commentary for the Atlanta news media affiliates of ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and NPR.
