ABOUT DAVID RUSHMERE

I am a Partner and co-Head of the Employment Department at Machins. Please feel free to contact me with all things employment.I provide advice that is both commercial and practical. My extensive experience both in-house and in private practice has helped me to develop my style so that I can swiftly identify my client’s issue from the background facts and then provide practical solutions to efficiently address the problem. I then communicate in a clear and concise fashion that is easily understood by my client without resorting to excessive legal jargon. This approach helps drive down fees for my clients and helps resolves clients’ issues without unnecessary delay.Principally, I am a facilitator and not a blocker: too many lawyers tell their clients what not to do and forget that their role is to assist their clients achieve their goals. I get to know my clients and discuss their objects as a first step to providing advice. Only once I understand what my client wants to achieve do I start providing advice.I am results driven and I always have the ultimate goal in mind when providing advice to my clients. I have experience with project-managing large-scale matters such as collective-consultation redundancies and TUPE transfers. I also have substantial experience advising clients from outside of the jurisdiction and real-world experience of cross-border TUPE.As a solicitor-advocate, I have spent considerable time presenting cases to the employment tribunal and this adds to the already strong employment tribunal service offered by Machins. I have spent over 10 years appearing for clients in the Employment Tribunal and the Employment Appeal Tribunal and have considerable practical experience of the judiciary. As a result, I am able to add insightful commentary on clients’ issues to illustrate how a claim is likely to play out should it proceed to a hearing.I am a confident presenter and trainer. I get a buzz from holding seminars on a wide variety of topics both legal and non-legal. It provides me with a wonderful opportunity to share my experience. I also take great enjoyment from working with junior members of the department to help them develop.Outside of Work - I love all things rugby: I am a passionate England supporter and have been a Wasps fan for many years. I am also a strong supporter of animal welfare charities including the RSPCA, the RSPB and the WWF.
