ABOUT DAVID ROUISON

I am a Principal Engineer for Kinectrics Inc, a leading provider of life cycle management solutions for the electricity industry. In this role I am a technical lead for the assessment of polymeric materials, with a particular focus on electrically insulating materials and cables. In this role I have lead numerous failure investigations on elastomeric seals and electrical cables and accessories across all voltage classes for the nuclear industry and transmission and distribution utilities. I also regularly conduct condition assessments of aging parts and develop tests programs to determine their remaining life. In this area, I have successfully managed large field projects to examine composite components with teams of more than 25 staff and contractors during major outages at nuclear power plants. Over the years I have acquired extensive knowledge of polymer processing technologies and mechanical, physical and chemical test methods to characterize these materials. I am passionate about all aspects of science and engineering and truly enjoys being exposed to new fields of study. My involvement with electrically insulating materials gave me the opportunity to gain experience in electrical testing of cables, especially with techniques used to characterize dielectric properties. I have a Ph.D. from the University of New Brunswick and I am a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng in Ontario, Canada). I have presented at numerous technical conferences and I am an active member of technical committees within IEC and to support the development of new standards and guidelines for the industry.
