As the Chair of RS & F’s Tax Department, I oversee our 80-plus person tax practice on behalf of sophisticated clients in the Mid-Atlantic, and throughout the country. Our fantastic team provides best-in-class service and technical expertise for our clients. We have led the tax structuring for more than $7 billion of real estate transactions, and more than $6 billion of M&A transactions since I have been tasked with leading RS & F’s tax department. I personally lead the largest and most complex transactions for the firm, focused in three key areas: 1. Business structuring and restructuring, with an emphasis on family offices and complex closely-held businesses.2. Mergers and Acquisitions, including dozens of private equity and venture capital transactions, as well as representing partners on many institutional deals. Estate and Gift Planning, often developing tax-efficient plans for families with net worth greater than $500 million that have complex family and charitable objectives. I have been writing about tax and business matters for many years, with dozens of articles published in various publications including the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Business Journal, Washington Business Journal, Maryland Journal. The Book on Qualified Opportunity Zones was the first comprehensive guide on the topic to be published.
