About David Powell

David Powell is a Senior Engagement Owner at Cerner Corporation. He has extensive experience in all aspects of healthcare informatics including development, product management, marketing support, implementation services, consulting and program management. Prior to rejoining Cerner, he was a Managing Director at Cumberland Consulting Group in Franklin, TN. Mr. Powell also was co-founder and Managing Partner with WellWood Associates, LLC, a professional services firm specializing in IT activation, clinical technology enablement and process automation. He has worked with leading healthcare systems suppliers including Cerner Corporation, McKesson and Unisys Healthcare Services. In addition, he was a Senior Manager in the Healthcare IT practice at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young LLC and a Principal in CSC’s Global Health Solution practice where he specialized in perioperative services improvement and automation as well as IT activation for new and acquired hospital facilities. In addition to his experience in the United States, he has extensive experience in the Canadian healthcare environment with exposure to other international healthcare settings in Europe and Australia. Mr. Powell has a BS in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he also served as a lecturer in Computer Science and was awarded an MBA from Appalachian State University. Mr. Powell has been certified as a P.M.P by the Project Management Institute and has received his LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt from Purdue University.
