About David Polan
David is a Valuation Director in the PwC-Deals practice. He previously finished a Tour in PwC’s National Technical Office, assisting in developing PwC’s audit policies and practices, providing tools and guidance to engagement teams for executing audits, consulting with engagement teams on complex accounting and auditing matters related to valuation and transactions, and supporting engagement teams on PCAOB inspections of valuation and business combination focus areas. He is also involved in the development of industry standards and best practice guides, including serving as the current PwC representative on the AICPA - Business Combinations Accounting & Valuation Guide task force and the Mandatory Performance Framework 2.0 task force.In his capacity with PwC, David has prepared and currently reviews valuations of businesses, assets, liabilities, debt, and other financial instruments for financial reporting, tax, litigation, and transactions. He also is heavily involved in the development of Firm tools, technical guidance, and training covering a wide range of emerging valuation, accounting, and audit topics.He has previously had the distinctive experience as the Director of the national quality office for the valuation practice, working on a range of some of the most challenging technical, quality issues, and initiatives impacting the practice. Throughout the year, David performed a split of approximately 50%/ 50% client / National Support work. Based on his experience, mentors, and prior experience in the core assurance practice he is utilized as one of the Valuation practice’s national technical experts, particularly in the topics of valuation, accounting, and auditing guidance for regulatory valuations. David’s client facing work is in a range of industries, with a focus on pharmaceuticals and life sciences engagements. David has also collaborated with, reported to, and presented findings directly to senior level partners in the National Office, International Member PwC Valuation Firms, other lines of services, and lead partners and directors in all other Deals Verticals in several National workstreams deemed to be essential to executing the Firms’ strategies. David received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University in California. He is a CFA Charterholder, a licensed CPA in California and Texas, and an ABV credential holder.
