ABOUT DAVID PECOVNIK
I am fortunate to have worked in various roles in the insurance industry and have now switched gears to small business and start up entrepreneurship. My role as a Film and Entertainment Broker enabled me to work with a wide range of international media organizations. Devising unique tailor made insurance programs, and a “feet to the street “ approach to meeting and getting to know clients, allowed me to understand a firm’s needs. I thoroughly enjoyed educating organizations and their teams about their insurance risks. I often presented to large groups. I joined Hub International in 2015 after starting my career at Chubb Insurance, working both in the Personal Lines and Commercial Lines departments for 10 years. My technical underwriting skills allowed me to procure, negotiate and service complex, multi media insurance risks. With insurance broker licenses across Canada including Quebec, I was well versed in insurance exposures across Canada. I have gained specific product knowledge in many customer segments including Personal, General Commercial,Technology, Cyber, and Film/Entertainment insurance risks, just to name a few. Over the years, I have been involved with a number of projects which have directly contributed to organizational results. I had the ability to head various compliance audits, consequently, winning Chubb Insurance it\'s first ever Data Excellence award presented by the Insurance Bureau of Canada. At Chubb, I also held interactive customer service workshops for my colleagues to help increase broker engagement results. I have achieved numerous Hub sales awards between 20••••18. Every role has helped me learn distinct skills, from leading a team of individuals on a project to growing books of businesses profitably. As a member of the a Royal Canadian Curling Club, you can catch me on the ice with my teammates in the winter time. Volunteering at the Toronto Distress Centre as a distress line phone operator and trainer has educated me on the signs, symptoms and resources available to those experiencing mental illnesses. I enjoyed leading Distress Centre teams to achieve the Centre’s goals around service standards. I have also enjoyed volunteering on many committees including: United Way Campaigns,SAC Committees, Junior Achievement Programs, C.A.R.E Volunteer Programs, Gay Lesbian Employee Network including Bisexual, Transgendered and Straight Ally Employees. I have recently partnered with a friend. The start up is called The Spicy Balkan. Instagram:@thespicybalkan
