About David Okunlola
I’m a public health researcher and demographer with a strong background in population health, social analysis, demographic analysis, and statistical analysis. I’ve contributed to 18+ peer-reviewed publications across reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, family planning, and gender violence prevention. Population health: Sexual and reproductive health issues, maternal and child nutrition, disability and morbidity. Risk factors for firearm injury and death. Social analysis: Gender-based violence, intimate or spousal violence, youth disconnection, marriage, men’s attitudes to sexual and reproductive health topics. Applied demographic analysis: Population, Fertility, mortality and nuptiality (marriage) estimation, projection, and determinants. Applied statistical analysis: Complex survey data analysis, general linear models, generalized linear models, structural equation models, causal inference and survey methods. Analytical tools: Stata, R, Mplus, Population Analysis Spreadsheet (PAS). In my work, I apply theory-driven and hands-on approach to define, study and understand real-world social, demographic and health issues. I generate key insights to assist intervention and policy development, and evaluation activities among policymakers, program managers, donors, NGOs, academic institutions, and international teams. In various research roles, I have managed and supported research funded by organizations like UNICEF, ODI, FHI360, DAI, IFC, BRAC, Florida State Department of Health on topics such as evaluation study on telemedicine on maternal morbidity, maternal and child nutrition, gender based violence, reproductive empowerment, and education management information system. I am currently a doctoral candidate (in sociology at Florida State University, majoring in demography and population health). Through the program I am strengthening my capacity further, to conduct and collaborate on impactful research by defining the problem clearly, adopting cutting-edge research designs, applying rigorous data analysis, communicating results intelligibly, and delivering actionable recommendations. Thank you for stopping by.
