Have been responsible for implementing a knowledge management program to identify, capture, and distribute critical JPL technical knowledge/know-how/expertise/intellectual capital for leverage, reuse, and transfer across JPL and NASA. Specialties: Knowledge engineering;Design and test of robotic interplanetary probes;Setting engineering standards for spacecraft design, and for the operation of deep space missions;Risk management for spaceflight missions;Failure modes of robotic interplanetary probes and planetary landers/rovers;Best practices and lessons learned for spacecraft design, test, and operation;Managing a diverse program of spaceflight engineering research and technology tasks;Robotics;Reliability engineering;Flying low-level aerial surveillance (i.e,\"canyon drops\") InterestsLt Col Oberhettinger, USAF Auxiliary, also serves as pilot or aircrew on USAF-assigned benevolent missions. In his spare time, he flies a Cardinal (tail number N13HK) to captivating places like Santa Barbara or Santa Ynez.
