Bio 4515- Virology: Initiated the introduction of this class for Senior Biology majors. Designed course curriculum and syllabus. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of viruses as model systems to approach basic problems in molecular biology. Applications of virological knowledge to medicine and biotechnology are discussed. The lab includes tissue culture techniques, maintaining human cell lines, isolation, characterization and assay of viruses and purification of viral DNA/RNABIO 3305 MicrobiologyThis course introduces students to the physiology, morphology, pathogenicity, epidemiology, immunology and genetics of groups of microorganisms and their applications. The lab component of the course introduces microscopy and staining techniques, the growth cycle and generation of a standard curve, physiological characteristics of microorganisms, and bacterial transformation.Bio 3709, Genetics Section 4, eveningsConcepts of Transmission and molecular genetics:Includes labs on Drosophila mutants and C. elegans genetics Probability and chi square test Bacterial Transformation Barr Body in Human cells Polytene chromosomes Human genetics in vitro transcription Agarose gel electrophoresis RNA interference.Bio 2200, Cell and Molecular Biology Sections 3 and 4, evenings • Apply the scientific method in laboratory exercises to form hypothesis, predict outcomes, analyze results and refine conclusions.• Understand and apply the cell theory.• Describe correlations among structure, organization and function of cells.• Understand the complexity and common themes of cellular processes.• Integrate the knowledge of structure and function to explain the adaptation and evolution of diverse organisms.BIO online coursePrinciples of Biology Course for Biology non majors
