About David Murphy

I am a physician leader, pulmonary and critical care physician, and researcher focused on healthcare quality, patient safety, and organizational performance. My work centers on building the systems, capabilities, and cross-functional partnerships that turn strategic priorities into safer care, better outcomes, and sustained improvement—and on developing leaders and teams who can carry that work forward.As Vice Chair for Quality in the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado, I lead efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety across diverse clinical divisions. My broader interests include safety learning systems, quality measurement, clinical informatics, organizational improvement, and leadership in academic medicine.
