ABOUT DAVID MUMFORD
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer specialising in geotechnics, with extensive experience delivering engineering solutions across the UK, North America, Ireland and the Middle East. My background spans Transportation, Energy, Utilities, Flood Alleviation, Defence and Private Development, covering both technically complex and programme‑led projects.I am Practice Lead for OTB’s Ground Engineering Team, providing technical leadership, strategic direction and hands‑on support across the full project lifecycle. I work closely with clients, designers and contractors to develop practical, proportionate and innovative solutions that respond to real‑world constraints and programme demands.My primary areas of technical expertise include:• Deep and shallow foundations• Gravity and embedded retaining wall design, including deep basements• Tunnelling and underground structures• Slope stability and ground movement analysis• Geotechnical temporary worksI am also an ICE Mentor and responsible for OTB’s Graduate Training Programme, supporting the development of early‑career engineers through structured training and mentorship.I am always keen to connect with clients, industry peers and collaborators to share insight, discuss challenges and explore opportunities to add value through good ground engineering.
